Mas de la Rose – An Intimate Provence Wedding
Mas de la Rose has a very distinct atmosphere in early autumn.
The light becomes softer, the colours warmer, and the entire property feels calm and clear without losing its energy. Ramona and Pascal chose this location in September for their intimate Provence wedding, creating a celebration that felt relaxed, aesthetic and deeply personal.
Their wedding was intentionally small. Only close family and a few friends were present. They had already celebrated their civil wedding earlier and decided to focus this weekend entirely on the experience, the setting and the people who truly matter in their lives. That choice shaped the whole day.
The ceremony was originally planned beneath the olive trees, but strong winds led to a spontaneous change of plans. Instead, they held the ceremony in front of the house façade – a decision that turned out to be perfect. The architecture, the warm stone tones and the Mediterranean textures created a beautiful, natural backdrop that felt effortless and visually balanced.
What stands out visually at Mas de la Rose is the shallow pool area. It blends seamlessly into the surroundings and creates a very clean, aesthetic look. The entire venue feels coherent and visually calm, which makes it ideal for photography without feeling staged.
The floral concept played with rich burgundy, soft reds, muted pinks and warm natural tones. Combined with the architecture and the late summer light, everything felt intentional and well considered without being overdesigned.
Dinner took place indoors due to the wind, which turned out to be a blessing. The interior space is elegant and atmospheric, offering warmth and intimacy while keeping the flow of the day relaxed. Conversations lingered, people stayed present, and the evening unfolded naturally.
After the wedding day, we added an after wedding shoot in Gordes, one of the most striking villages in the region. Ramona chose to wear her hair loose, which gave the images a wild, natural movement. The wind, the open landscape and the soft light created a very honest, unpolished feel. The final images, with Gordes in the background, felt strong and free without being dramatic.
Many couples automatically think of Tuscany when planning a destination wedding. Provence often surprises in the most beautiful way. Visually, it offers the same warmth and elegance, but with a slightly quieter, more grounded feeling. This wedding showed just how special Provence can be for couples looking for something intimate, aesthetic and real.
As a destination wedding photographer based in Switzerland, I accompany weddings across Europe for couples who value atmosphere, visual coherence and meaningful experiences. This intimate Provence wedding at Mas de la Rose is a perfect example of how powerful a small, well thought out celebration can be.
